Utica College Center for Identity Management Gains ID Analytics as Collaborator

Utica College's Center for Identity Management and Information Protection (CIMIP) will be collaborating on research with ID Analytics, a company that provides identity risk management services.

Founded in 2006, CIMIP focuses on the study of identity management, information sharing, data protection, and addressing the crimes of identity theft and identity fraud. Its ultimate goal is to impact policy, regulation, and legislation through research and technical assistance applications. The center has members from government, corporate and academic institutions, including the United States Marshals Service, the United States Postal Inspection Service, and Syracuse University's CASE Center.

"ID Analytics brings to the table diverse experience in engineering, physics, marketing, computer science, brokerage, telecommunications, mathematics, and financial services," said Donald Rebovich, executive director of CIMIP. "Through their experience, these experts are able to transform corporate challenges and scientific advances into relevant and effective solutions for a variety of industries."

Recent projects at the center include researching how to identify fraud trends and patterns for the Department of Justice; surveying undergraduate students on their ID theft awareness and behavior; and studying how non-compliant sexual offenders manipulate their identities to "hide in plain sight."
