Saint Louis U Ramps Up to Gigabit Ethernet

Saint Louis University in Missouri has boosted its network capacity in its medical center with deployment of gigabit Ethernet Internet access services delivered by XO Communications over fiber. The XO solution provides a two-fold increase in Internet network capacity and supports the growing bandwidth requirements of the university's education and research programs that are increasingly leveraging web-based applications and technologies for collaboration and communication.

"We are dedicated to providing reliable, highly available IT services to our students, faculty, and staff," said Tim Brooks, VP and CIO. "The newly implemented Internet connection located on our Medical Center provides redundant Internet access and nearly doubles our overall bandwidth capacity. Our partnership with XO Communication is a critical component of our disaster recovery plan and is essential to meeting the growing Internet access requirements of our academic, clinical, and research communities."

The university has 17,500 faculty, staff, and students.

Other XO Communications clients include the Utah Education Network and the University of Memphis in Tennessee.
