Seattle Pacific Capturing Lectures with TechSmith Camtasia Relay

Seattle Pacific University (SPU) has selected Camtasia Relay, TechSmith's lecture capture and presentation program, as its campus-wide lecture recording solution. Currently, about 20 of SPU's 343 faculty and staff are using Camtasia Relay and 500 students in a student body of 3,800 are accessing the lectures on-demand.

"After being a Camtasia Relay beta tester, we decided to deploy it campus-wide. We feel confident that we are now providing SPU's faculty with an easy-to-use, flexible and affordable solution that enhances our learning environment," said David Wicks, director of instructional technology at SPU. "We've seen a positive response from the faculty members that have already begun using Camtasia Relay. A significant benefit is that [the software] offers our instructors the ability to capture content in any classroom on their own computers and to offer them to SPU students in a variety of convenient ways suited to their media preferences."

With Camtasia Relay, instructors and presenters can use any PC or Mac in the classroom or conference room, at their desk, or at home to record live lectures, learning "objects," and presentations. Audiences can view and listen to the recorded lectures and presentations online, via learning management systems like Blackboard, via Apple's iTunes U, or on mobile devices such as the iPod or iPhone.
