CollegeNET Releases Web-Based Change/Configuration Tool

CollegeNET has released IT Impact, a Web-based change and configuration management tool for higher education that adheres to Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standards.

With the new tool, service administrators can monitor and record changes to all network devices, view calendars of past and future changes, and manage changes through their lifecycle, from request to completion. The tool also lets the user track, enter, view, and edit data about configurations of all hardware and software components, including their relationships and dependencies. IT Impact provides functionality for granting system permissions for each group of users.

"To achieve widespread adoption, change management has to be practical and easy," said Emil Izunagbara, associate vice president, business development, for the company. "Although ITIL is a great concept, stakeholders in IT operations must be willing and able to apply these standards to their real world experience--without necessitating a 'PhD in ITIL.' CollegeNET's deep experience providing usable Web-based services has put us in the perfect position to create a highly intuitive, drag-and-drop change and configuration management environment that even occasional users can approach with confidence."

The company also sells systems and Web-based services for tuition processing, scheduling and space analysis, admissions management, course and faculty evaluation, and commencement management. Customers include the University of Oregon in Eugene; Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA; and Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.
