DeVry Deploys Equella for Content Development
DeVry, parent company of DeVry University and several other for-profit career training institutes, has chosen digital repository Equella for its system-wide curriculum content development.
After an extensive analysis of its requirements to carry out the objectives of its content development system, DeVry determined that Equella could offer the best platform to "to migrate and catalogue content--ensuring the existence of a shared collection of content for reuse across all DeVry institutions."
Critical among these objectives were:
- The need to interoperate with Pearson eCollege's course management system;
- Effective management of the content development process; and
- Incorporating processes related to content migration, redesign, and publishing.
In addition, DeVry cited increased efficiencies from Equella in the system's current content authoring processes, specifically the migration and cataloging of content, and quality-assured workflow management. The goal of the elaborate content development infrastructure is to ensure a collection of content created by teachers and students that can be shared, in perpetuity, throughout the entire DeVry system.
"Equella has proven to be a tool that enables us to author content independent of our course delivery platform and also to package that content so that we can take advantage of a standards-based publishing mechanism. It is enabling us to gain control of our own digital assets," said Nancy LaChance, director of academic technology services for DeVry.
