Reazon Systems Launches Sakai Module for Student Assessment

Reazon Systems has released a student assessment module that works with the Sakai open source course management system. iRubric for Sakai integrates with Sakai CLE (collaborative learning environment) to perform rubric generation, assessment, and reporting. Users can access the functionality directly from the Sakai gradebook.

Besides providing faculty with tools for rubric generation and assessment, the program also gives students viewing capabilities for pre- and post-assessment and provides administrators with real-time reports for analysis and monitoring of student performance and learning outcomes.

The integration of iRubric with Sakai was the result of a year-long collaborative effort with Bloomington-based Indiana University, culminating in a semester-long pilot to use the software with OnCourse CLE, the university's version of Sakai.

"We are excited to have accomplished a seamless integration between the two platforms and to allow Sakai users to easily build and grade rubrics with a few simple clicks," said Ramesh Sabetiashraf, the creator of iRubric. "Equally important was student privacy and security as sensitive student data transmitted between the two systems. From the onset, our integration effort placed a strong emphasis on ease-of-use and security. We are happy to have fulfilled both objectives to meet our users' high standards."

An institution can license the program to run on internal servers or through a company hosting service.
