Planar Debuts LED Video Wall Displays
Planar announced this month the Clarity LED Series, a line of rear-projection LED video wall displays. The LED technology means there are no consumable parts, such as lamps, that need to be replaced. LED technology is also friendlier to the environment, owing to this lack of consumable parts as well as its mercury- and lead-free design. Planar said these displays have 60,000 hours of life.
The first products in the series are the 70-inch c70HD-LED (1,920 x 1,080 resolution), Clarity RP-LED (SXGA+ 1,400 x 1,050 resolution), and Clarity RX-LED (XGA 1,024 x 768 resolution) rear-projection displays (available in 50 and 67 inches). All displays within the Clarity LED Series use DLP technology and are available with Open or Indisys image processing electronics options.
According to the company, the Clarity LED Series produces a wider color gamut and improved color saturation levels than those of traditional lamp-based systems. This new series also incorporates Planar's NaturalColor Optimizations, which are preset and customizable color spaces that improve visuals for applications such as simulation and security.
The company said the Clarity LED Series is delivered as a complete system instead of a kit, thereby making each model easier to install, and they come already calibrated for maximum performance.
The Clarity LED Series will ship in the third quarter of 2010.
