Michigan Campuses Get Moodlerooms on State Contract

An organization that provides media and technology to Michigan colleges and schools has begun recommending to members a learning management system built on the open source Moodle platform. The Regional Educational Media Center Association of Michigan (REMC) has added Moodlerooms' joule to its list of products and services available as part of its "Statewide $ave Bid Project."

The Bid Project provides pricing that meets state standards and allows schools--including colleges and universities--to buy products without additional bidding. Vendors are selected based on product knowledge, support, price, and customer satisfaction. Through the program an annual license fee for the Moodlerooms learning management system is priced at $9.90 per user in quantities of one to 999. Pricing goes down as the quantity of users goes up.

joule provides tools for converting course content into a format that works in Moodle. It also offers a digital repository for learning objects, a notification system to keep instructors informed about student participation in courses, Web services to integrate the program with a student information system, and student outcome reporting, among other features.
