Two companies--one with clicker technology and the other with lecture capture software--are teaming up for the development of classroom technologies. The division of Macmillan that sells i>clicker has entered into a strategic partnership with Panopto, which develops course capture software, to market and sell the latter's products into higher education.
The two firms said eventually they'll also develop, market, and distribute new digital learning products based on Panopto's lecture capture technology and targeted at the needs of the North American higher education market.
Panopto allows instructors to combine audio, video, PowerPoint slides, and screen-capture into a searchable resource for students.
"With this partnership, we can achieve our shared mission of transforming and extending the learning environment in higher education, and at the same time, deliver students the best learning tools available," said Panopto CTO Eric Burns.
"Panopto's technology is so powerful, yet so simple, that we expect it to help lecture capture become the next breakthrough technology in higher education," said Brian Napack, president of Macmillan. "Our partnership is designed to take lecture capture to the widest possible audience, allowing instructors to reach students when and where they are needed most."
