Fairfield U Moves to Innovative for Library Operations

Fairfield University in Connecticut will be implementing the Millennium integrated library system (ILS) from Innovative Interfaces to replace a legacy SirsiDynix Unicorn system. Millennium provides modules for circulation, serials management, acquisitions, and cataloging operations. The DiMenna-Nyselius Library at Fairfield U already uses Innovative's Encore discovery services application for collection and database search.

"The timing was right to look at an ILS replacement," said Joan Overfield, director of library services. "We value our relationship with Innovative and really love Encore, which is working well for our students and faculty. After looking at commercial and open source solutions for our library operations, Millennium was the clear choice."

Fairfield U participated as an early development partner for Encore and had initially installed the product to complement its previous ILS in 2008. The university has about 5,000 students.
