Crestron Adds Push Buttons to the iPad

Crestron's iPaneL clips onto the iPad to provide hardware buttons for controlling environmental and media systems.

Crestron has unveiled a new device that combines with the iPad to supply hard buttons for mobile room control.

The device, dubbed the iPaneL, clips over the iPad and offers pushbuttons that work with the Crestron Mobile Pro G control application, an iPad application designed to communicate with control systems to manipulate media devices, lighting, HVAC, and other room systems.

The hard buttons enable volume and lighting to be adjusted without navigating through subpages of the application.

Buttons include an OSD navigation pad, volume up and volume down, mute, lights, home, guide, info, and exit.

The iPaneL communicates with the iPad through the iPad's dock connector and ships with a docking station charger that plugs into the iPaneL.
