Black Box Debuts USB KVM Switch


Black Box's ServeSwitch Freedom is a USB-based KVM switch with RJ-45 connectivity.

Black Box, a company that offers KVM switches, AV cabinets and racks, digital signage devices, and network services, has rolled out a new USB-based KVM switch that allows control of up to four computer systems.

The new switch, dubbed ServeSwitch Freedom, controls computer systems collectively or separately and offers port switching through the use of hotkeys, mouse scrolling, or a switch on the front panel of the device. It weighs in at less than 2 pounds.

Ports include two USB type A ports, four USB type B ports, five 3.5 mm audio jacks, and one RJ-45 port.

The ServeSwitch Freedom ships for $495 and is compatible with Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, Solaris, Netware, and Unix systems.
