Two schools in West Virginia are streamlining the payment process for students by using a new gateway feature added to a program used for registration with their non-credit classes. West Virginia University Extended Learning and Pierpont Community & Technical College both use Augusoft Lumens, an online service that enables students to sign up for courses. A new credit card payment gateway connects Lumens to the West Virginia State Treasury Office. State Treasurer John Perdue has made a major push to provide electronic payment services for state agencies and schools.
"I can't tell you how thrilled I was when I registered my first student and saw that the [state treasury office] gateway page populated automatically from the student profile," said Ron Weist, director of community education at Pierpont. "All we need to enter is the credit card number of the student in Lumens and the gateway takes care of the rest."
Augusoft Director of IT Paul VanderWaal added, "This feature is now available for any other schools in West Virginia desiring to use Lumens to manage their non-credit program and increase online student self-registration."
