Wacom Revs Interactive Pen Display for Education

Wacom has released an update to its DTU-2231, an interactive, pressure-sensitive tablet display targeted toward education.
The DTU-2231 has been available since last year. The update provides new tools designed to help educators use the devices in classroom presentation situations. Those tools are available in a new radial menu and include functions for interacting with PowerPoint presentations, such as annotations, markup, slide control, and other tools.
The device itself combines a full 1080p (1,920 x 1,080), 21.5-inch HD display with Wacom's graphics tablet technology, allowing users to draw directly on the screen with 512 levels of pressure sensitivity and an input resolution of 2,540 lines per inch. It offers a 700:1 contrast ratio and a brightness of 200 cd/m². Other features include:
- Cord-free, battery-free operation of stylus;
- Dual USB ports;
- DVI and analog RGB inputs with DVI-I passthrough;
- Adjustable stand with 15 degree to 72 degree incline; and
- Integrated pen stand.
The DTU-2231 is available now for $1,899. Wacom is demonstrating the updated software at the NAB 2011 convention taking place this week in Las Vegas. Further details can be found here.
