Florida Colleges, Continuing Ed Schools Add Online Career Services for Students

About 240,000 Florida students will be getting online career guidance and job search support thanks to a deal between the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges (FAPSC) and LearningExpress, an education technology company that offers services designed to help students with career advancement.

The deal between the two entities will provide students with access to three different online resources via their school Web sites: job and career accelerator, computer skills and business writing, and networking. The goal is to help students develop resumes, improve interview skills and be generally prepared for the rigors of seeking a job in the current market.

Kathy Mizereck, FAPSC’s executive director, cited LearningExpress’ “intuitive and user-friendly” support tools as the primary reason for the relationship.

"The online job and career support tools from LearningExpress are intuitive and user friendly for our students," Mizereck said in a prepared statement. "We are excited to offer our students continued support by giving them resources to help find jobs."

FAPSC serves a total of 379,000 students in 910 degree- and non-degree-granting higher post-secondary institutions in Florida. LearningExpress services will be available to more than 200 of those institutions through this deal.
