Modo Labs Releases New Modules for Mobile Campus App

An updated multi-platform mobile solution aims to provide colleges and universities with a new way to improve service to prospective students and their parents.

Modo Labs, a provider of open source mobile platforms, has added two new modules--Mobile Admissions and Mobile Tours--to its Mobile Campus solution, according to a statement released today by the company. The new modules support iOS and Android platforms and “can be provided as a native app or as a smartphone-optimized Mobile Web (HTML5) application.”

Mobile Admissions enables prospective students to find information about the school, courses, campus life, financial aid, and admissions requirements. They can also schedule a visit or request information. The application ties into the institution’s social media networks including Facebook and Twitter.

Mobile Tour functions as an interactive tour guide--complete with campus information, photos, and videos--that prospective students can use when visiting or researching the campus. Help, Welcome, and Finish pages lead users through the tour, from start to finish. Tours can include designated stops, with photo and video, as well as an end location.

Institutions can promote their brand by including their school logos, text styles, colors, and icons in the modules.

Institutions can purchase Modo Lab’s new modules as additions to Mobile Campus or as standalone applications. Mobile Campus is built on the Kurogo open source platform. To download Kurogo or find Web additional information about Mobile Campus, visit the company’s Web site.
