Epson has unveiled an upcoming addition to its classroom document camera lineup, the Epson DC-20. The new model includes a 12x optical zoom coupled with a 10x digital zoom, along with HDMI connectivity.

The DC-20 is a 1080p document camera (HD-resolution, 1,920 x 1,080 pixels) that offers support for a range of output resolutions via HDMI, RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin), USB, and composite jacks, from QVGA to 480i to 1080p. It has an 11.7" x 20.7" capture area in 1080p mode and an 11.7" x 16.5" capture area in XGA mode.

Other features of the new document camera include:

  • Dual upper LED lamps;
  • Autofocus;
  • ±90 degree image rotation;
  • 1 GB internal memory, plus SD card and USB slots for storage expansion;
  • Built-in mic;
  • Split screen mode;
  • Microscope adapter; and
  • Various security features, including Kensington lock slot, security mounting holes, and a metal security bar.

AV inputs include RGB (mini D-sub 15-pin), microphone, and USB-A for storage and computer-free annotations. AV outputs include HDMI, RGB, USB-B (with support for resolutions up to SXGA), and composite video. The DC-20 measures 14.4" (w) x 4.8" (d) x 4.7" (h) closed and weighs in at 6.4 pounds.
