HP Launches New Servers for Virtualized Environments

HP has released two new four-socket servers designed for complex virtualized environments. The HP ProLiant BL660c and DL560 Gen8 servers deliver significant computing power in a relatively small package, according to information released by the company.

These two new servers are the first four-socket servers to use HP ProActive Insight Architecture, which continuously analyzes system parameters for optimal application performance. The company claimed this architecture can cut down on the amount of time IT staff have to spend on maintenance tasks because the system is highly automated and provides continuous monitoring of system health.

The BL660c and DL560 are both designed to save space. The BL660c "offers four-socket density in half the size of the previous generation," and the DL560 is a four-socket server condensed into a 2U form factor. HP managed to scale down the size of these servers "without compromising performance, scalability, or expansion requirement," according to information released by the company.

Key features of the HP ProLiant BL660c and DL560 Gen8 servers include:

  • Integrated PCIe 3.0 storage, which provides double the input/output bandwidth and up to six times faster performance than previous generations of HP ProLiant servers;
  • Enhanced virtual machine support;
  • Lower latency than previous generations.

The HP ProLiant BL660c and DL560 Gen8 servers are available now for starting prices of $7,970 and $5,912, respectively.

Further information about the HP ProLiant Gen8 servers is available on the HP site.
