Grand Canyon U Implements Incident Reporting Platform
An Arizona university has deployed an online risk and incident management platform that allows students, faculty, parents, and visitors to report suspicious activities.
Grand Canyon University (GCU) in Phoenix, AZ has launched TIPS (Threat Assessment, Incident Management, and Prevention Services) by Awareity.
"If someone has information about conditions that adversely affect the GCU campus climate or warrant concern for the safety of students, faculty, or staff, they can access the TIPS report incident button from GCU's Web site, select their campus location, and anonymously or confidentially report the information," said Rich Oesterle, GCU's campus development manager, in a prepared statement.
TIPS provides an online platform for faculty, students, parents, and others to report incidents such as cyber-bullying, bullying, harassment, and violence to campus authorities online. The online form asks for incident type, if the person filing the report wants to report confidentially or as a user, date and time of incident, the person or people involved in the incident, incident details, and how the user became aware of the incident.
It also generates real-time documentation that can be used for audits, accreditations, and analysis. Types of available reports include prevention, report, receipt, acknowledgment, response, historic, and compliance. TIPS meets reporting requirements for the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the federal law that requires colleges and universities to document crime on or around campuses.
TIPS is compatible with Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome browsers.
