Collegefeed Career Marketplace for Students and New Grads Launches Beta Program

Collegefeed, a new social site designed to connect students and recent graduates with employers, has begun its beta launch, which is open to students and new grads from the University of California, Berkeley, Stanford University, and Carnegie Mellon University, Silicon Valley.

Sanjeev Agrawal, former head of product marketing for Google, said he created Collegefeed to help students find jobs and help companies find talent. "With over half of recent college grads stuck unemployed, we saw an opportunity for social and real-time technologies to play a part in solving this very serious problem," said Agrawal, founder and CEO, in a prepared statement. "That's how we came up with Collegefeed. Think of it as an early career marketplace for anyone ready to enter the workforce."

Jobseekers can create a personal profile on Collegefeed and use the service to search for jobs or internships based on their interests, find alumni at their choice of companies, apply for employer-sponsored awards through the Collegefeed Awards Program (CAP), and share interview experiences with other job-seekers, according to the company. Companies can create branded pages, connect with students and grads who meet their job requirements, and push relevant content to a student's newsfeed.

"Every company large or small struggles to attract the right candidates--in fact, these days employers have to grab students' attention as much as those students have to grab theirs," said Agrawal. "But the reality is that it can be a very expensive and time-consuming process. Collegefeed is a fast and affordable way for start-ups and enterprises alike to recruit and nurture college talent."

Students from UC Berkeley and professionals from eBay pilot tested the service during Collegefeed's closed beta period, which launched in February and recently closed. On Friday, March 15, three students won the first CAP awards for best portfolio, best international applicant, and best personal statement. Several students have already secured internships or completed interviews with potential employers.

Collegefeed will launch publicly in May 2013, and interested universities can register online. The full, nationwide service will launch by fall 2013.
