ASCI Connect Launches Cloud-Based Network Monitoring
ASCI Connect has launched a new cloud-based network monitoring and reporting service, Network Monitoring Centre (NMC), which is designed to provide visibility into network traffic from a single dashboard interface.
The company created NMC in response to the reporting and management challenges associated with the recent explosion in Internet-based applications and mobile devices. NMC uses NetFlow v9, IPFIX, and JFlow traffic data to provide traffic visibility on both single- and multi-vendor networks. According to a news release from the company, this approach is less costly and complex than deploying and managing appliance-based monitoring and reporting solutions. And unlike other NetFlow-based reporting systems that see all port 80 traffic as HTTP, NMC classifies applications individually, including video and voice streaming, instant messaging, file sharing, and email.
NMC generates both real-time and historical reports on all network traffic. Key features of the reports include:
- Traditional NetFlow-based metrics such as source and destination IP address, ports, and traffic volume;
- Network response time metrics such as retransmission rates, network latency, compression and caching improvements, application quality score, and MOS scores;
- Information including username and application type; and
- Data and display style consistent with the NMC online dashboard.
ASCI Connect has also developed a custom application programming interface (API) to let third-party solution vendors integrate their products with NMC, providing support for additional appliances and monitoring and management tools through the NMC dashboard.
