Pivot Update Aims to Better Match Researchers to Funding Sources
Research solutions provider ProQuest has updated Pivot, its Web-based platform that locates current funding sources and matches them to researchers. The new version features enhancements to Pivot's recommender service including new filters for improved searching, the ability to create custom lists of grant opportunities, and 508 compliancy.
The updated feature set aims to ease the process of winning research grants, according to Jeff Baer, vice president of ProQuest Research Solutions.
"Pivot enables university research offices to be more productive by simplifying the process of finding funding opportunities that match the expertise of the researchers they work with," Baer in a company statement. "That's an ongoing mission. Everyday we're working to enhance the technology, the content and the features of Pivot to make it more efficient. Our customers tell us these new enhancements are just what they're looking for."
The new filtering and sorting features enable users to search for active funding sources then receive a list of matching faculty and researchers from within their university or at another institution. Users can also search the database for a researcher and view a list of matching grants.
Pivot's new "Curate" feature allows administrators to create custom lists, by topic, and share them using a permalink URL. Lists can be updated as needed. The URL will always show the "current version of the list."
The platform is now 508 compliant. Information about accessing this support can be found on the company's new Accessibility page, "which can be accessed from a link in the footer of all Pivot pages."
