Google Makes Quickoffice Free to Everyone
Google is making Quickoffice, its app for editing Microsoft Office documents, spreadsheets, and presentations on mobile devices, free to anyone with a Google account.
Available for Android and iOS devices, Quickoffice integrates with Google Drive and allows users to edit Office documents without converting to Google Docs formats for collaboration with individuals who do not use Google products.
The company is also giving an extra 10 GB of Drive storage for two years to users who sign into their Google accounts through the Quickoffice app by September 26.
Other features new with this version include:
- The ability to create .zip files;
- The ability to work across multiple devices, eliminating the need to install different apps on smartphones and tablets; and
- The ability to view charts in Excel and Powerpoint files.
More information about the Android version of Quickoffice is available at play.google.com. Go to itunes.apple.com for more information about the iOS version.
