Virginia's Ferrum College Moves to New Learning Platform

Ferrum College has adopted D2L's integrated learning platform, Brightspace, to replace its legacy learning management system. The Virginia institution will also be using the company's e-portfolio application, D2L ePortfolio, to provide students a mechanism for preserving their work, learning reflections and other aspects of their college years.

"Brightspace was the most advanced yet easy-to-use solution we reviewed. Its rich capabilities in online learning, community sharing and analytics are a perfect fit for the unique needs of our institution," said Gail Summer, vice president of academic affairs. "The company's technology will empower our students to take advantage of a more flexible but open and connected learning environment."

D2L's learning environment provides course management, collaborative tools and functionality for personalizing a student's learning path, including access to a digital repository of education standards that can tie to specific digital learning content.
