Stanford Business Programs Start Using Canvas LMS

Stanford Graduate School of Business is implementing the LMS Canvas for its management education programs, including its MBA.

The school began using the LMS this fall with students in its two-year MBA program as well as its year-long MS in management for experienced leaders (called MSx) and the business school’s PhD program. Using the LMS, students and teachers send and receive course assignments, collaborate on group and team projects, and monitor class schedules and changes.

The Canvas LMS was launched by Instructure about three years ago and is in use in almost 1,000 schools. It features a cloud hosting solution and open API for compatibility with other programs.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with an organization as forward thinking as the Stanford Graduate School of Business," said Jared Stein, vice president of research and education at Instructure in a statement. "Stanford GSB and Instructure share a commitment to making education more effective and impactful of students' lives both onsite and online. That's why we've built Canvas in such a way that it enables innovation and encourages educators to develop new approaches to teaching and learning."
