U Central Florida Wins Cybersecurity Cup for Participation in Multiple Challenges
The University of Central Florida has won the 2014 Collegiate Cybersecurity Championship Cup.
The award is designed to encourage participation in as many cybersecurity participation competitions as possible in an effort give students more experience and foster cooperation between organizers of unrelated events.
"The program is similar to the FedEx or Sprint Cups — teams gain points for participation and placement in disparate cybersecurity competitions," said Gregory White, director of the Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security, in a prepared statement. "Competitions are weighted based on a number of factors such as geographic scope, number of teams, team size, and technical level of the competition."
The Cybersecurity Championship Cup is run by the University of Texas at San Antonio's Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security. It is funded by the Department of Homeland Security's Cyber Security Division. More information is available at collegiatecybercup.org.
