National Telecom and Information Administration Admin To Deliver Internet2 Global Summit Keynote

Lawrence Strickling, assistant secretary for communications and information at the United States Department of Commerce and administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will deliver a keynote address at the Internet2 2015 Global Summit.

"Strickling will discuss the importance of global Internet governance to the research and higher education community," according to a news release. "In particular, his keynote will explain how privatization of the domain name system will facilitate the security, stability and openness of the Internet. He will also describe the multistakeholder model of governance and address the value of input from academics and technical experts."

Internet2's Global Summit will take place April 26-30 in Washington, D.C., and will focus on the advancement of research capabilities owing to collaborative IT infrastructure and application innovations.

"Assistant Secretary Strickling's perspective on collaboration amongst the technical Internet community is a welcome addition to the Global Summit program," said H. David Lambert, president and CEO of Internet2, in a prepared statement. "His extensive experience in telecom and collaborative programs will provide a unique view of the challenges and successes in Internet governance today and how those impact the broader research and higher education community. Global Summit is about bringing together that community's top technology, business and education leaders and we're pleased to have Assistant Secretary Strickling join us for the event."
