Pennsylvania Higher Ed Network Wins $150,000 Grant

Pennsylvania's Keystone Initiative for Network Based Education and Research (KINBER) has been awarded a $150,000 National Science Foundation grant designed to help the state's colleges and universities support scientific applications and research through network infrastructure.

"The grant will benefit Penn State, as well as other Pennsylvania colleges and universities, in terms of technology and infrastructure by providing a platform to advance scientific applications and research in the state," said Kevin Morooney, vice provost for information technology at Penn State and vice chairman of KINBER, in a prepared statement.

KINBER was launched in 2010 with a $99.6 million grant from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to build a 1,600-mile higher education broadband network across the state. More information is available at kinber.org.
