John Carroll U Adopts Data Visualization Tools To Teach Students How To Share Insights

John Carroll University's (JCU) College of Arts and Sciences has adopted a data visualization suite to help students learn how to find insights in data and present their findings to an audience.

The university selected SynGlyphX's GlyphIT suite after working with the company on another project.

"We became familiar with SynGlyphX software through work we did with the company in visualizing and better understanding swarm intelligence data," said Daniel W. Palmer, of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at John Carroll, in a prepared statement. "Through that experience, we wanted our students to continue to expand their data science capabilities and provide hands-on experience with the SynGlyphX software."

SynGlyphX's data visualization and discovery tools are designed to help users see patterns, trends and anomalies in the complicated data that has been increasing as a result of new sensors, increased storage capacity and other technological developments.

"SynGlyphX is excited to collaborate with John Carroll University on this initiative," said Mark E. Sloan, CEO at SynGlyphX, in a prepared statement. "We look forward to interacting with JCU students and working with them to use our software to discover insights that lead them to new areas of knowledge — as well as enhance our collective understanding of how interactive data visualization can be applied across disciplines to make sense of an ever increasing amount of data."
