Franklin U Taps Private Partner To Provide Online Options
Franklin University has teamed up with a private partner in an effort to make it easier for students to transfer credits and complete their degrees.
Ninety percent of Franklin U undergraduate students transfer credits from at least one other institution. "To help provide insight into the value of this previously earned credit, the university created myTransferCredit, an online tool that links prospective students directly to the university's transfer credit database," according to a news release. "In addition to providing free, real-time transfer equivalencies between Franklin degree requirements and courses taken previously elsewhere, myTransferCredit shows prospective students which Franklin majors give them the best return on their credit by providing estimated degree completion dates and a monetary value of the credit toward the total cost of the degree."
To further ease students' paths to degree completion, Franklin is now accepting credits from StraighterLine, a provider of low-cost, online general education courses.
"Franklin University has built its reputation on improving access to relevant, high-quality academic programs for students who balance their educational goals with other commitments," said David R. Decker, president of Franklin University, in a prepared statement. "By establishing partnerships with organizations such as StraigherLine, we are able to leverage our generous transfer policy to provide a greater community of learners with a faster and more affordable means of completing their education."
