Pearson and Flatiron School Partner To Create Coding Bootcamp

The bootcamp intends to train higher ed students in software engineering and increase employability.

Pearson and New York City’s Flatiron School have announced a new on-campus “Coding Bootcamp” for college and university students. Students enrolled in the bootcamp will have access to a full-time, 800-hour training program in software development skills that simulate a professional coder’s environment.

Flatiron’s bootcamp includes:

·      A dynamic, continuously updated curriculum;

·      A virtual learning environment that uses the same tools software engineering professionals use;

·      Instructional resources, including syllabi, course structure and grading tools; and

·      Virtual-classroom features that allow students to interact in real time.

Upon completing the program, students will have a full, professional portfolio of work on GitHub, an industry-standard project-hosting site for sharing software code.

The partnership is part of Pearson’s broader initiative to help students develop skills and competencies they need to succeed in high-demand career fields by providing them access to high-quality course offerings.
