Penn State Launches Local Contest for Next Big Ed Tech Idea

A Pennsylvania State University network of students, faculty, staff and alumni is looking for the next big thing in the Ed Tech industry. The Penn State EdTech Network is now accepting applications for its BIG IDEA Contest.

Co-sponsored by the Penn State Small Business Development Center and funded by Ben Franklin Technology Partners, the competition seeks “budding entrepreneurs, researchers, students and the area’s software developers who are working in the exciting space of educational technology,” according to the BIG IDEA Contest website.

Contest prizes include:

  • First place: $35,000
  • Second place: $7,500
  • Third place: $2,500

Applicants must be located in Pennsylvania, have fewer than 25 employees and must not have generated more than $500,000 in sales in either 2015 or 2016 to be eligible.

The BIG IDEA Contest is currently accepting applications online and via phone at 717-948-6625 until Jan. 9, 2017.
