Tulane Rolls Out New Closed-Captioning Service

Tulane University is simplifying the process of captioning its video and audio content. The institution worked with video management provider ShareStream to launch a new closed-captioning service that has been integrated into the ShareStream Video Platform.

The ShareStream closed-captioning service allows users to upload, transcode and generate closed captioning for media files from the ShareStream Uploader. In addition, captions can be generated for existing content using Pick-n-Play, ShareStream's video learning application.

Tulane has been using the ShareStream Video Platform to manage and stream its multimedia content since 2007; the new closed-captioning service is now live at the university and will be generally available to ShareStream customers early next year.

"This partnership among our institutions has been instrumental to the goal of providing high quality options for developing and distributing accessible content," commented Mike Griffith, faculty technology coordinator at Tulane, in a statement.
