Penn State Launches Interactive Campus Maps Systemwide

Penn State's interactive map

Penn State University is rolling out interactive maps and virtual tours across 22 campuses. The institution is using the Concept3D platform to provide 3D renderings of campus locations, along with 360-degree panoramic images, point-to-point wayfinding, real-time data feeds and more.

Accessible via desktop or mobile devices, the maps allow users to toggle information by category, so they can highlight resources such as parking, transportation, dining, ADA accessible routes and entrances, and new student orientation. Users can also click on campus landmarks to view panoramic images of those locations.

Other features include:

  • Real-time data on the availability of computers in most computer labs across the Penn State system;
  • Live transit feeds at the University Park campus;
  • "Get This View," a function that allows users to share a specific point or area of the map; and
  • Wayfinding via address-entry and drag-and-drop points for campus navigation.

Penn State has also used the platform's geospatial capabilities to build several virtual campus tours, including a general campus tour and a tour from the University Park campus's historic Nittany Lion Inn.

The Penn State University Park campus map is available on the university website.
