Barnes & Noble is making a play to broaden its reach into colleges and universities. The bookseller will be introducing a free application specifically for higher ed that lets users manage all of their digital content on a computer. MoreMcGraw-Hill Higher Education has unveiled an update to Connect, the company's Web-based teaching and learning platform for colleges and universities. To be released in the fall, Connect 2.0 will include improvements in some of the current features and will be expanded to include world language courses. MoreBlackboard has teamed up with textbook providers McGraw-Hill, Follett, and Barnes & Noble to enhance the availability of educational content in Blackboard Learn, the company's flagship online learning management platform. MoreDean Evans & Associates has released a new version of EMS Master Calendar, its online calendar software. The application provides users in an organization access to a central calendar of events. Release 3.1 provides improved control of events imported from the company's scheduling system and tighter integration with social networking sites and other Web-based calendar programs. MoreWinthrop University is adopting a new service to help improve student retention. The 6,500-student university, located in Rock Hill, SC, is adopting EducationDynamics' EarlyIQ, a Web-based alert program.
