Training Institute To Develop Cross-Platform Mobile Services

Duoc UC, a technical and professional training center run by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, will be using tools from Moofwd (pronounced "moo forward") to develop mobile applications that tap internal IT systems in the formation of new services.

Moofwd's Mooestro is a set of tools that allow developers to simplify integration of data from applications including Blackboard, SAP, and Moodle, among others. For example, the toolset can draw on internal data for to set up library or class scheduling apps.

The resulting apps run natively, the company said, on Apple, Android, BlackBerry, and Microsoft devices.

"Duoc UC students are better prepared for their futures due to our hands-on approach and industry focused programming," said Francisco Valdivia, technology development director at the institution. "Incorporating Mooestro-built mobile apps into their education experience will increase their ability to understand and use modern productivity technology, a skill that will greatly benefit them as they enter the workforce. Any step that we, as an institution, can take to further develop skills beyond the classroom is a not only valuable to students, but is core to our responsibility as a foundation of higher learning. We look forward to the process of developing the Duoc mobile apps with Moofwd and even more, to observing how the apps benefit our students in their educational journeys."

Moofwd is owned by Orion System Integrators, a sizeable outsourcing service provider with offshore locations, including offices in Chile.
