Califone Releases Mobile Device-Capable PA System

Califone has unveiled the PA419 PA system, which includes a dock for iPhone and iPod devices to stream or download digital audio files.

The product, which also includes a DVD/CD player, is intended for groups of up to 300 or rooms with a maximum area of 2,000 square feet. The system includes two wireless microphone receivers and also can support a wired mic. It can connect to computers, projectors, whiteboards, stereos, mixers, or other multimedia players for presentations.

Other features of the PA419 include:

  • Voice priority capability (ducking), which automatically reduces the music level when a mic is used;
  • Charging in the dock while playing music;
  • Two-hour life on a single charge;
  • A control panel with music/speech button, mic/aux/MP3/master volume controls, auxiliary input and audio line out, combo XLR/TRS (quarter-inch) mic inputs, and iPod/DVD video outs;
  • Remote control with pitch adjustment for audio played from the DVD/CD player; and
  • Standard pole mount.

In addition, the PA system uses a 30 W RMS amplifier and uses a full-range 4 ohm, 6.5-inch speaker. It also allows the instructor to vary the audio playback feed. The PA419 uses the same frequency for its wireless mics as the rest of the Califone PA system line.

The PA419 was specifically designed for iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4; iPod with click wheel, iPod with dock connector, iPod mini, iPod with color display, iPod nano, iPod with video, iPod classic, and iPod touch.
