iCampus is allowing a limited number of customers to get a sneak peak at its premium mobile platform package, dubbed iCampus Plus, which will be formally released in September.

Colleges and universities that participate in the early access program will receive a discount, the ability to launch the platform for the fall semester, provide feedback to the company, and be granted special early access to future products.

iCampus Plus provides all the features of the free iCampus Essential, plus courses, transit, and places portals. iCampus Essential and Plus allow colleges and universities to brand their apps with custom icons, themes, and graphics. It is available for mobile Web, Android, and iOS, and is deployed via the App Store.

iCampus Essential provides a gateway for:

  • Events calendars, which can be broken down by type of activity and allows users to search for today's or future events;
  • Photos of campus buildings and events;
  • A faculty and staff directory, which provides contact information and the ability contact them through the app;
  • Maps, which shows where the university and all its buildings are located, powered by Google Maps. Users can also search by building and use the GPS functionality to find out where they are in relation to it;
  • Emergency contact information and a "push for help" button;
  • The library catalog, as well as information about hours, locations, and contact information;
  • Campus videos, presented using YouTube. Examples include sports, class lectures, and promotional video; and
  • Athletics information, including scores, schedules, rosters, and news.

Additional features included in the premium package are: access to the course catalog and class information, bus schedules and routes, and a places portal, which provides information about every location on campus.

The cost of iCampus Plus for schools will be between 10 cents and $1.50 per student each year.

The Sunnyvale, CA-headquartered company recently changed its name from EZ Axess to iCampus.
