World Science Festival 'Innovation Square' Showcases Science and Technology Research

Students and faculty from Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly) will display the latest advancements in robotics, multiplayer gaming, and education technology at this year's World Science Festival. Visitors at the five-day event will get a chance to participate in experiments with robotic fish, tour a virtual garden, and go on an augmented reality archeological dig, at the festival's interactive, technology playground, Innovation Square. The festival, which opens today and runs through June 3, will be held at the NYU-Poly campus.

"No other place in Brooklyn better embodies the spirit of innovation than NYU-Poly, where technologies that make life easier, safer and certainly more fun are becoming real every day," said NYU-Poly President Jerry M. Hultin, in a statement released today by the institution. "The World Science Festival is about sparking passion for science, and this is an amazing opportunity to experience emerging technologies firsthand, to see a glimpse of the future as it takes shape, and meet the scientists and NYU-Poly professors who are working at the cutting edge of their fields."

Events at Innovation Square include:

  • Game Innovation Lab and YaMove! Dance Competition
  • Robotic Fish Challenge
  • Mobile Apps for Robotics
  • Big Dig and a Rocket Launch
  • Taking a Swipe at Chemistry
  • College Preview
