Mississippi State U Eases Parking Problems with App

Mississippi State University (MSU) has adopted a new app to help students, faculty, and staff find available parking on campus.

The university's "unprecedented growth," from 19,644 in 2010 to more than 21,000 this year, "has created a challenge for students, employees, and visitors looking for available parking," according to a news release about the move.

To help manage the problem, MSU has deployed Streetline's Parker mobile app and ParkEdge parking publishing platform.

The system, which MSU began testing in fall 2012, allows parking staff to update the Web-based ParkerMap via the publishing platform. The app uses red, green, and blue images to indicate available spaces.

"We believe this partnership with Streetline provides immediate answers to questions on campus parking in a convenient format that's accessible to all MSU stakeholders," said Mike Harris, director of parking and transit services at MSU, in a prepared statement.
