Gale Adds Nearly 700 STEM Titles to Virtual Reference Library

Gale will add approximately 750 new books focused on STEM, healthcare and K-12 topics to its e-book platform, Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL), as a result of signing four new publishers.

The bulk of the new material is STEM content, with "more than 360 titles from Taylor & Francis, one of the world's leading publishers of scholarly journals, books, e-books, textbooks and reference works spanning all areas of humanities, social sciences, behavioral sciences, science, technology and medicine," and an additional 300 titles from "World Scientific, a leading international STEM publisher for the academic and special markets," according to a news release.

"The addition of this new material answers customer demand for more STEM content and is another example of the transformation of GVRL beyond a reference platform to a dynamic research experience for all types of users — from kindergarten to college and beyond," said Frank Menchaca, senior vice president of global product management for Gale, in a prepared statement.

HCPro will provide material about healthcare regulation and compliance appropriate for community college and university nursing programs, "and will provided much-needed, current information on the Affordable Healthcare Act and its impact," according to information released by Gale.

Features of Gale Virtual Reference Library include text-to-speech technology, the ability to browse books online, article translation, downloading of articles as PDFs to work offline and unlimited concurrent users and downloads.
