Hofstra To Offer Graduate Online Degrees in Health Law
Hofstra
University Law School is launching two new online
graduate degree programs dealing with the fast-growing field
of health law.
In a partnership with Pearson,
the Maurice A. Deane School of
Law at Hofstra in Hempstead, N.Y., will now offer a master of arts in
health
law and policy and a master of laws in health law and policy.
Pearson will host the learning management system,
provide help
desk support and take responsibility for marketing, recruiting, faculty
technology training and course design and development.
The impetus for both degree programs is the
tremendous growing
need in health care for specific legal knowledge, triggered by new
government
regulations, laws and mandates.
The master of arts degree program will be open to
both lawyers
and non-lawyers, but targeting doctors, insurance professionals,
hospital
administrators and clinicians who need more proficiency to interact with
the
legal system in their work. The program will require 30 credit hours
with 11
courses, which can be completed in two years.
The master of laws degree program will target legal
professionals who want to focus their practices on the field of health
law.
That program will require 25 credit hours, nine courses and about 18
months.
Each of the programs is set to launch this fall.

health
professionals, and these programs help meet this critical demand," said
Hofstra

being at the forefront of legal education, distinguishing Hofstra Law as
an
innovator in legal online learning."
