A new virtual reality offering from Higher Ed Growth brings immersive virtual campus tours directly to prospective students who can't visit a college or university in person.

CampusTourVR uses a mobile app and specialized goggles to engage students with an on-demand virtual reality tour. Students receive a branded welcome kit in the mail, launch the app on their mobile phone, enter a unique code for the specific school, slide the phone into the goggles' viewfinder and are immersed into 360-degree view of the campus and nearby destinations, complete with high-definition video.

"The higher education industry is evolving, and so are the needs of incoming students. Customized experiences are more important than ever for students choosing a university that is right for them," said Frank Healy, president and CEO of Higher Ed Growth, in a press release. "CampusTourVR delivers a user-friendly way for students to visualize how they fit into a school's environment in order to make an informed decision for their future."

Higher Ed Growth manages on-location filming and VR production for the virtual tour content, and handles fulfillment and shipping of the welcome kits and goggles. The company is currently offering CampusTourVR demos and is exploring applications of the technology in other markets, such as the employee recruitment space.
