Southeastern Oklahoma Boosts Its Online MBA Program

The John Massey School of Business at Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SOSU) in Durant, OK, is adding five new focus areas to its online master of business administration (MBA) program.

Students will now be able to obtain an MBA online with specializations in management, entrepreneurship, health information systems, safety and Native American leadership. Those will be in addition to the six areas of emphasis the university already offers with its online MBA: marketing, hospitality marketing, finance, human resources, strategic communications and aerospace logistics.

Academic Partnerships, an online service provider for higher education, will launch, market and administer the online MBA programs for SOSU.

Southeastern President Sean Burrage cited research from the Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce that 350,000 MBAs will be needed in Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas in the next four years.

"Managerial and professional occupations are key drivers for economic growth and demand for MBAs in Oklahoma is at its highest level in the past decade," Burrage said. "Our online MBA, with its diverse areas of emphasis, is a response to this critical need, and it reflects our commitment to a high-quality and affordable education. For the first time, an MBA is truly accessible to many residents of this region and nationwide."

SOSU in Southeastern Oklahoma has seven other campuses in addition to the main campus in Durant and a growing online presence with about 4,000 undergraduate students.
