3D4Medical Launches Lecture Builder

3D4Medical has released Lecture Builder, an interactive software application designed to help medical school professors create custom anatomy lectures and content for students.

The company created Lecture Builder as a companion to its flagship Complete Anatomy application, which uses 3-D technology to allow students to explore visualizations of the human body. According to a news release, 3D4Medical created Lecture Builder in response to "student demand to do more with the Complete Anatomy app."

Key features of Lecture Builder include:

• Ability for professors to create screens, recordings and quizzes, and then publish them as a complete lecture;
• Creation of digital assets and teaching modules for a specific curriculum, discipline or speciality;
• Library of 3D4Medical-created digital assets that can be dropped into lectures and courses;
• Library of lecture modules for use in a custom learning sequence;
• Integration with Complete Anatomy's suite of interactive learning tools; and
• Visualization tools for labelling and highlighting.

According to the company, Lecture Builder is suitable for use in pre-med, medical, dental, nursing, allied health, physical therapy and paramedic education. More than 60 universities in the United States and 100 worldwide have piloted Lecture Builder.

Derek Harmon, assistant adjunct professor of anatomy at the University of California San Francisco, is one of the professors who participated in the Lecture Builder pilot program. "Anatomy textbooks are a relic of the past — a static, one-size-fits-all way of learning that no longer fits with today's learning requirements," he said in a prepared statement. "Students are hungry for digital learning tools that deliver a personalized approach to anatomy education."

Complete Anatomy and Lecture Builder are currently available for the iPad and Mac OS. Further information about the apps can be found on the 3D4Medical site.
