New Stock Video Service Lets Campuses Add Own Media Assets

An education technology company that provides a platform to help the campus community locate multimedia assets to use in their work has launched an expanded service. VideoBlocks, which already produces Digital Backpack, has introduced U-Curate.

Digital Backpack offers copyright-free digital content — stock video footage, motion backgrounds, After Effects templates, audio clips and stock photos through institution-branded websites hosted by VideoBlocks. U-Curate includes all of that as well as functionality to enable organizations to upload and search through their own digital assets. Those might include footage from PowerPoint presentations, MOOC or other online training sessions, alumni outreach multimedia and other content. The material can then be downloaded by the campus user and integrated into instructor presentations, student projects or other activities.

"U-Curate makes life easier for anyone using digital media on campus by saving them time and money," said TJ Leonard, CEO of the company, in a press release. "Universities love to complement their own digital assets with stock media to give projects a creative boost."

VideoBlocks has already found pickup for the Digital Backpack service at the University of Minnesota and Brown University, among others.
