UCI Launches Coding Boot Camp for Continuing Ed Students
The University of California, Irvine Division of Continuing Education (DCE) is launching its first Coding Boot Camp, designed for working professionals and students. Students completing the 24-week program earn a certificate in Full Stack Web Development, signifying that they "have the skills to create front- and back-end web applications."
Topics covered include the basics of coding, algorithms and data structure, as well as intensive training in Javascript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, jQuery, C# and more; an employer network of local businesses will help guide curriculum subject matter. Classes are offered on weekday evenings and Saturdays; students will also spend 10-15 hours a week on "outside projects and experiential learning activities to build a professional project portfolio that showcases their abilities to create web applications," according to a university statement.
"A career in web development can offer myriad opportunities for inspiring work and professional growth," said Brian Breen, director of corporate education at UCI DCE, in a press release. "The Coding Boot Camp at UCI can provide the perfect entry point for anyone willing to work hard and to learn."
Classes start on March 14, 2017. Applicants should have a basic understanding of coding, though no previous experience is required. For more information, visit the Coding Boot Camp site.
