Pepperdine Taps 2U for Two New Online Degree Programs

Pepperdine University is expanding its online education efforts with two new degree programs, to be launched this fall through a partnership with 2U. Pepperdine's School of Law is introducing Law@Pepperdine, an online master of legal studies (MLS), while the Graduate School of Education and Psychology is offering Psychology@Pepperdine, a suite of online degrees in psychology.

Intended to "mirror the high quality and rigorous standards of the school's on-campus programs," Law@Pepperdine and Psychology@Pepperdine will feature "live, face-to-face online classes in an intimate seminar-style setting and engaging, interactive course content created by Pepperdine faculty and delivered through the 2U Platform," according to a press release. In addition to attending class online, students will participate in "traditional, in-person immersive experiences on Pepperdine's campus along with applied learning experiences."

Law@Pepperdine is designed for professionals in law-related fields who "are not practicing lawyers but interact with the legal system on a regular basis and would benefit from an in-depth legal education," according to information from the university. Psychology@Pepperdine will "provide students with a thorough understanding of the principles of psychology and to prepare them for professional endeavors in fields of psychology."

"With these innovative new online programs, we provide access to a Pepperdine education to more people regardless of geography, furthering our university's mission to be a global, Christian university dedicated to preparing our graduates to be servant-minded leaders throughout the world," said Rick Marrs, Pepperdine University provost and chief academic officer, in a statement. "With 2U's focus on quality and driving positive student outcomes, they are the right partner for Pepperdine."
