SAS to Provide Analytics Software, Training to Clemson U Innovation Center

Analytics software and services company SAS is partnering with Clemson University to provide research, software, services and funding to the school's Watt Family Innovation Center. The arrangement will give professors, students and researchers access to SAS analytics, business intelligence, cybersecurity and data management software; SAS will also provide teaching materials, on-site training and help developing analytical programs. Professors will be able to easily integrate SAS software into coursework, giving students hands-on experience with the technology.

Opened in 2016, the Watt Center is designed to support flexibility, transparency, interactive learning and innovation on campus. Its mission is to "create an environment where collaboration between students, faculty and leaders from industry and government agencies generates ideas and solves complex problems, according to a press release. The facility won a 2016 Campus Technology Innovators award in the category of IT Infrastructure and Systems.

"The Watt Family Innovation Center is a unique educational facility that quickly has become invaluable to our students and faculty and one of the most innovative in the nation," explained James Clements, president of Clemson, in a statement. "This partnership with SAS … will allow us to better serve our university community, and we are very appreciative of their generous support of Clemson's mission."

The deal establishes SAS as the sixth Founding Innovation Partner for the Watt Center, joining Comporium, Haworth, Philips Lighting, Scientific Research Corporation and SCRA.
