College Builds Out Robotics Center of Excellence

A Connecticut college has worked with a national IT company to create a robotics center to train workers in the state. Goodwin College in Hartford teamed up with RGBSI to launch a robotics and automation center of excellence, to support education in advanced manufacturing technology. The new facility is housed in the college's manufacturing center and was designed with the help of RGBSI.

RGBSI, which provides engineering and technical expertise to companies around the world, is also working with Goodwin to develop training curriculum in digital manufacturing skills.

Students will be able to use the facility to run simulations with robotics programming, maintenance and tooling. The new center offers hardware such as robot controllers, end-of-arm tooling, holding fixtures, peripherals and storage. RGBSI donated some of the equipment for the lab, including a six-axis robotic arm that can be programmed for a variety of jobs.
